The Meaning of Pi Kappa Alpha Alive and Well on Founders Day
On Sunday evening, March 1, 2015, the bonds of brotherhood that were institutionalized exactly 147 years prior were shown to be alive and well at Epsilon Delta. On this Founders Day Sunday, close to 20 alumni brothers from the 60s to the 00s joined the active chapter at LSA Burgers on the Denton Square to commemorate Pi Kappa Alpha’s founding.
While the weather was a concern early on, Mother Nature actually cooperated, warming the air and clearing the roads from the ice storm a few days before. The rooftop bar area proved to be an ideal gathering spot, with a perfect view of Denton’s historic courthouse.
The day started at 3:00 pm with alumni and actives mingling over drinks, appetizers and burgers as everyone arrived. Alumni relations chair Stephen Hasell made a few remarks to thank everyone for attending and to announce upcoming alumni events including the Garnet and Gold alumni vs actives softball game on April 11 and a Top Golf alumni happy hour tentatively scheduled for May 23. Many brothers stayed well past the 6:00 pm open bar end-time to continue sharing memories and stories of years past.
Founders Day is one of the greatest opportunities for alumni and actives of all ages to join together and celebrate the near century and a half of fraternal brotherhood that we’re all a part of. Alumni get a chance to learn about the amazing achievements of the current active chapter, while actives enjoy hearing about the experiences of alumni from several generations.
